Team Play
Being a part of the Holiday Golf Group promotes a sense of camaraderie, fellowship, and
competition among the club members.
Eligibility to Participate in NCGA Tournaments
The NCGA conducts about 100 tournament days each year, most of which are open only to NCGA
members. Although some of the tournaments are limited to low-handicappers, others are open
to middle and higher handicap golfers. In addition to individual tournaments, the
association runs several tournaments for teams of two people or more.
Monthly Computerized Indexes
Each member automatically receives a monthly computerized index. This index is used
to calculate the player's handicap at any course on the Slope system (nearly all courses
in the U.S. now use Slope and the system is being adopted worldwide). NCGA members may
view their index files through the NCGA web site's Handicap section.
Annual Index Card
Once a year, each member receives two Index and Membership Cards on which to record the
monthly current and low indexes. This card serves as verification of a person's correct
index (it must be validated by a club handicap official to be certified). One card fits
into the member's wallet. The other fits into a distinctive black plastic holder which can
be attached easily to any golf bag. Members receive their bag tag from their club when
they join.
Bi-monthly Issues of HGG Newsletter
Each member receives six issues a year of the HGG Newsletter, which provides information
about upcoming golf activities and other club information.
Discounted Green Fees at Poppy Ridge in Northern California
NCGA members can get special discounted rates at the Northern California Golf Association
owned course Poppy Ridge in Livermore. NCGA members receive the member rate on the
weekdays and the member guest rate on the weekend. For more information, call Poppy Ridge
